Gibbons P.C. is pleased to announce that Charles S. Korschun, Director in the firm’s Commercial & Criminal Litigation Group, and Cameron W. MacLeod, Director in the firm’s Real Property Group, have been named among the New Jersey Law Journal’s “New Leaders of the Bar” for 2022. Mr. Korschun, Mr. MacLeod, and this year’s other New Jersey Legal Awards honorees were recognized at an awards reception on September 29, 2022 at the Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park, New Jersey.
To be selected as “New Leaders of the Bar,” rising legal stars under the age of 40 had to demonstrate distinct practice niches, leadership qualities, and a commitment to pro bono and charitable work. The honorees were judged for their development of the law, advocacy/community contributions, service to the bar, and peer/public recognition.
Mr. Korschun focuses his practice on complex commercial, financial services, and life sciences matters. He represents clients in state and federal courts, arbitrations, and investigations by the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, and other government authorities. Financial institutions, domestic and multinational corporations, and individuals trust Mr. Korschun in disputes involving a broad range of subjects, including breach of contract, securities laws, mergers and acquisitions, construction, land use, and putative consumer class actions. His pro bono engagements have included representation of clients in civil rights litigation and in matters before the United States Immigration Courts in New Jersey and New York. Mr. Korschun has been recognized in Thomson Reuters New Jersey Super Lawyers Rising Stars in the Criminal Defense: White Collar category.
“This recognition by the New Jersey Law Journal is truly an honor, and I greatly appreciate having the opportunity to represent Gibbons in this role,” he noted.
Mr. MacLeod regularly represents developers of industrial, commercial, and residential projects throughout the state of New Jersey as part of the land use and redevelopment process. His practice has a particular emphasis on addressing affordable housing compliance issues and land use/zoning litigation. He works with clients to design and execute permitting plans that limit risk and time in the permitting process, and regularly appears before municipal and county planning and zoning boards to secure the necessary approvals and works with various state and federal agencies to facilitate development. Mr. MacLeod is also experienced in land use litigation and resolution of property disputes, having represented property owners and trade associations in prosecuting and defending challenges to local land use approvals and regulatory actions by municipalities, including deed restriction matters, Mt. Laurel and constitutional compliance cases, and actions in lieu of prerogative writ. He has been recognized in Thomson Reuters New Jersey Super Lawyers Rising Stars in the Land Use/Zoning category since 2019.
“I am honored by this acknowledgement and thank my colleagues at Gibbons and throughout the bar who have provided me with valuable advice, support, and mentorship,” said Mr. MacLeod.
