Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) has again ranked the Intellectual Property (IP) Group at Gibbons P.C. in its annual IAM Patent 1000: The World’s Leading Patent Professionals, granting the firm its Gold Band rating for practices identified as “the crème de la crème” and whose “success hinges on reputations established over lengthy periods of time, something which enables them to secure the most high-profile, big-ticket instructions from the most demanding of clients.”
Gibbons is one of only three Gold Band firms in New Jersey. The 2025 edition marks the 15th straight year IAM has recognized David E. De Lorenzi, Chair of Gibbons’s IP Group, and the firm.
In addition to Mr. De Lorenzi, six other Gibbons attorneys – Thomas J. Bean, Charles H. Chevalier, Samuel H. Megerditchian, Robert E. Rudnick, Christopher H. Strate, and Estelle J. Tsevdos – were recommended individually among IAM’s leading patent practitioners, spanning the litigation, prosecution, and transactions categories.
To compile the IAM Patent 1000, the IAM team conducts rigorous and far-reaching research over the course of five months, entailing thousands of interviews with industry specialists worldwide and resulting in “the definitive ‘go-to’ resource for those seeking to identify world-class, private practice patent expertise.” Factors for selection include depth of knowledge, market presence, level of work, and positive peer and client feedback.
The publication notes of the firm, “Gibbons is a discerning choice for those in need of well-designed patent applications and attorneys who have the skill to get these through to grant. The team also brings the litigation know-how needed to tenaciously defend and enforce these rights in court.” Of the Group’s attorneys, it emphasizes:
- Mr. De Lorenzi’s “strategic advice on how to drive businesses forward through effective use of intellectual property” and his record of success handling trials nationwide as a seasoned litigator
- Mr. Bean’s skill “in advising on the acquisition and protection of IP rights”
- Mr. Chevalier’s “practical and innovative solutions to an array of challenges,” citing his representation of AstraZeneca in a Hatch-Waxman action
- Mr. Megerditchian’s extensive experience that enables him to “elevate his patrons’ domestic and international portfolios”
- Mr. Rudnick’s integral role in the success of his client’s businesses, achieving key licensing deals and patent protection
- Mr. Strate’s ability to solve various challenges and “particular skill in inter partes review proceedings”
- Ms. Tsevdos’s prosecutorial acumen and her ease in working with inventors
