Garden State Equality (GSE), the largest advocacy organization in New Jersey, has named Gibbons P.C. one of its Equality Companies of the Year. The firm will be honored at the organization’s Legends 2011 Awards Dinner on June 25 at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson.

GSE, which boasts more than 66,000 core members, advocates for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights. Its Equality Companies of the Year awards recognize companies headquartered in New Jersey, along with national companies with significant business presence in New Jersey, that also promote those values. The selection of the 2011 Equality Companies of the Year began with nominations solicited from the organization’s membership, followed by exhaustive research on more than 5,600 nominated companies. Honorees were selected based on their workplace culture, diversity policies, and overall commitment to equality.

“Gibbons has always been committed to diversity, in its many forms,” says Patrick C. Dunican Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons. “We are proud to support Garden State Equality in the critical work it does throughout New Jersey and beyond, and we are honored to be recognized as an Equality Company of the Year.”

Throughout the firm’s longstanding working relationship with GSE in support of the advancement of civil rights for the LGBT community, Gibbons has been recognized by the organization on other occasions. The firm is privileged to be the namesake of Garden State Equality’s Gibbons Prize for Law and Social Justice. In addition, Lawrence S. Lustberg, a firm Director who leads the John J. Gibbons Fellowship in Public Interest & Constitutional Law, is a member of GSE’s Equality Hall of Fame.
