Gibbons P.C., one of the state’s largest law firms, has opened an office in Red Bank, New Jersey, at 141 West Front Street. This is the firm’s eighth location and third in New Jersey.
The office is initially staffed by James R. Zazzali, former Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court and New Jersey Attorney General; Stephen R. Reynolds, a Director in the Commercial & Criminal Litigation Department who is the former Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary of Aramark and Global General Counsel of Alcatel-Lucent; and Kelly Ann Bird, a Director in the Employment & Labor Law Department and leader of the Gibbons Workplace Training Academy.
”Building on our longstanding presence in Newark dating back to 1926 and our successful expansion into Trenton in 2002, Gibbons continues to invest in New Jersey, which is the cornerstone of our regional growth strategy,” notes Patrick C. Dunican Jr., the firm’s Chairman and Managing Director.
Already considered one of New Jersey’s “go-to” law firms for groundbreaking public and private sector projects, transactions, lobbying initiatives, and wide-ranging litigations with statewide implications, Gibbons expanded into Red Bank because it is a linchpin of Monmouth County, which boasts an economy and business base that are microcosms of the state’s overall economy and business base, and which is home to numerous industries represented among the firm’s most significant clients. Nearly half of Monmouth County’s top ten employers are Gibbons clients.
One of the most notable of Monmouth County’s competitive assets is its robust economy. A 2017 New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) survey of county business leaders reported strong sales, profits, and employment, progressing even from 2016’s record results. The county has an enviable reputation in the state, particularly for its management and administration, stable and moderate taxes, high quality educational system, diverse economy, and cultural and entertainment offerings.
The largest industries in Monmouth County are all important segments of the Gibbons client base, including local government; public and private hospitals, broader healthcare services, and institutions of higher education; retail trade, and, in particular, grocery stores; hospitality and food services; and professional, scientific, and technical services. Most of these industries are also among the top employers in the state overall, meaning that many sectors that are most critical to the county’s economy are also those most critical to the state’s economy.
With an eye toward the future, Gibbons also looked beyond its current client base to determine those industries in which the firm plans to expand its existing reach, as well as those it hopes to break into, again finding that Monmouth County’s fastest growing and target growth industries coincide with target growth areas for Gibbons. These include some sectors that are already significant, such as those mentioned above. Others are up-and-coming sectors in the county, including business enterprise management, social assistance, personal care services, information technology, telecommunications, and finance.
With the opening of its Red Bank office, Gibbons now has full-state coverage throughout New Jersey, with its Newark, Trenton, and Red Bank offices, along with its Philadelphia, Pennsylvania location, making Gibbons convenient and accessible to clients from every region of the state. This prominent statewide presence reflects the firm’s regional expansion strategy, which is focused on serving clients from easily accessible, transit connected offices in eight key locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and East Coast, including New York, New York; Wilmington, Delaware; Washington, DC; and West Palm Beach, Florida, in addition to Newark, Trenton, Philadelphia, and Red Bank.
