Gibbons P.C. and The Chubb Corporation hosted a leadership program for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellows on December 7, 2015 at the Gibbons headquarters in Newark, New Jersey. Keynote speakers for the event were LCLD members – Maureen Brundage, Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Chief Ethics Officer of the Chubb Corporation, and Patrick C. Dunican Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons.
The luncheon began with an opportunity for the Fellows to network, followed by an overview of both Ms. Brundage’s and Mr. Dunican’s backgrounds, a discussion about diversity initiatives at Chubb and Gibbons, and candid advice from the speakers. Ms. Brundage recommended the Fellows “stay open to possibilities,” while Mr. Dunican advised, “Never forget where you came from, continually work on getting educated, and have humility.”
The LCLD Fellows Program identifies high-potential attorneys from diverse backgrounds to participate in a highly structured leadership development program. The program includes legal practice training to hone their skills, peer-group projects to foster collaboration and build relationships, and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership, including the managing partners and general counsel who host the Fellows for Learning Experiences and Leadership Lunches.
