Lawrence A. Goldman, a Director in the Gibbons P.C. Corporate Department, was awarded the Section Chair’s Award at the Annual Meeting of the American Bar Association (ABA), Business Law Section. The meeting was held on September 13, 2019 at the Marriott Marquis in Washington, DC.

The Section Chair’s Award is given annually by the Chair of the Business Law Section in recognition of an individual’s contributions to the Section. Mr. Goldman’s role in developing the newly inaugurated Business Law Section Leadership Academy was cited as a basis for the award, in addition to his other service to the Section for many years. He is currently a co-Chair of the Section’s Leadership Development Committee and Chair of the “In the Know” component of “Business Law Now,” which produces free monthly CLE webinars as a benefit to members of the Section. He previously served a term as a member of the Section’s Governing Council, terms as Chair of the Middle Market and Small Business Committee and the Business Law Advisors Committee, and he served as the Executive Editor of the Corporations, LLCs, and Partnerships practice area of Business Law Today, the Section’s monthly electronic journal. He was also the Business Law Section Liaison to the ABA Standing Committee on Professionalism.

At Gibbons, Mr. Goldman counsels middle market and smaller public company clients on a broad array of corporate and transactional matters, focusing on mergers and acquisitions (domestic and cross-border); capital formation and finance; governance; private placements and securities law compliance; distressed business restructuring and the corporate aspects of bankruptcy reorganization; and the organization and governance of joint ventures. He has substantial experience representing audit committees and other special board committees in corporate governance and internal investigation matters.
