Gibbons Director Kate Janukowicz Named to 2022 NJBIZ Forty Under 40 List

NJBIZ, one of the state’s leading business publications, has selected Kate E. Janukowicz, a Director in the Gibbons P.C. Commercial & Criminal Litigation Group, as one of its “Forty Under 40” for 2022. Ms. Janukowicz, who also serves as the firm’s Director of Professional Development, Retention, and Associate Recruitment, received her award on September 21 during a virtual awards ceremony.

Each year, NJBIZ chooses as its “Forty Under 40” those candidates who demonstrate exceptional commitment not only to their own professional careers, but also to their local communities and the state’s business environment.

Ms. Janukowicz joined Gibbons as an associate in 2013 and soon made herself an indispensable member of every matter team to which she has been assigned, quickly becoming a go-to associate and trusted advisor to firm clients. She has the ability to handle a broad array of complex criminal and commercial matters in both federal and state courts, and her experience is wide-ranging, up to and including participation in trials.

In addition to a formidable legal talent, Ms. Janukowicz has established herself as a trusted and loyal teammate who fosters a collegial and supportive atmosphere at the firm. In 2020, upon her promotion to Director, she was also elevated to Director of Professional Development, Retention, and Associate Recruitment. In this position, among many other responsibilities, Ms. Janukowicz serves as the first point of contact for prospective associates when they interview at the firm, and she makes critical decisions concerning the firm’s next generation. Since she has taken on this role, her focus has been to continue to bring in diverse legal talent committed to the firm, its clients, and the legal community.

Ms. Janukowicz also maintains a pro bono practice and is active in many other volunteer initiatives both inside and outside Gibbons. She is listed in Woodward/White Best Lawyers^® for Commercial Litigation and recently received an “Enterprising Women in Commerce: One to Watch” award from the Commerce & Industry Association of New Jersey. She was previously named one of the New Jersey Law Journal’s “New Leaders of the Bar” in 2021.
