Gibbons Director Christine Amalfe Inducted as Secretary of New Jersey State Bar Association

Christine A. Amalfe, Chair of the Employment & Labor Law Department of Gibbons P.C., was sworn in as Secretary of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA), the state’s largest association of judges, lawyers, and legal professionals, during the NJSBA’s Annual Meeting, held May 13-15, 2020. Ms. Amalfe is on track to become President of the NJSBA in 2025.

An NJSBA member for over 30 years, Ms. Amalfe has served in various capacities, including as an Executive Committee Member of the Labor & Employment Law Section, Trustee of the Women in the Profession Section, and member of the Higher Education, Judicial Administration, Legislative, Amicus, and Pro Bono Committees. She also served three two-year terms as an At-Large Trustee. In addition to her work with the NJSBA, Ms. Amalfe has been a member of the American Bar Association Advisory Council for the Initiative on Achieving Long-Term Careers for Women in Law/Summit Co-Chair. She was elected a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers Class of 2015.

She is listed in Woodward/White Best Lawyers®, which also listed her as Newark “Lawyer of the Year” in the Litigation – Labor and Employment category; Chambers USA Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers for Business; and Thomson Reuters New Jersey Super Lawyers, which includes her among the top 10 attorneys and top 50 female attorneys in the state. In addition, Ms. Amalfe has been listed as a “State Litigation Star” in Benchmark Litigation, named one of the “Best 50 Women in Business” in NJBIZ, and featured as one of Profiles in Diversity Journal’s “Women Worth Watching.” She was also a recipient of the New Jersey Law Journal’s inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.

A co-founder of the internationally recognized Gibbons Women’s Initiative, Ms. Amalfe has served as president of the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) Foundation. Previously, the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association presented her with its Women’s Initiative & Leaders in Law (WILL) Platinum Award for her work supporting the advancement of women in the legal profession, and the Center for Women and Work at Rutgers University has also recognized her efforts.
