Gibbons P.C. is pleased to announce that Michael E. Hamburger has joined the firm as a Director in the Business & Commercial Litigation Group, resident in the New York office. Mr. Hamburger is a first-chair trial lawyer who focuses on civil and criminal antitrust litigation, as well as other complex litigation and investigations.

Mr. Hamburger has represented clients in some of the largest antitrust trials over the past 15 years, advised them on antitrust compliance issues, defended them against criminal investigations, worked to secure clearance from global competition authorities for their mergers or acquisitions, and led them through all phases of civil litigation, including on appeal. He defends domestic and international clients against claims brought by class-action plaintiffs, state attorneys general, public or private companies, and competition agencies such as the U.S. Department of Justice. His practice covers a broad array of industries, including pharmaceuticals, healthcare, manufacturing, electronics, higher education, and technology platforms, among others.

Mr. Hamburger was included on the Thomson Reuters New York Metro Super Lawyers Rising Stars list for Antitrust Litigation in 2024. He serves on the New York City Bar Association’s Antitrust and Trade Regulation Committee and is a member of the Joint Conduct Committee and Antitrust Section of the American Bar Association.

Mr. Hamburger earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law and his B.A. in Government and Law and Philosophy from Lafayette College. He is admitted to practice in the state of New York, the United States Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the First, Second, and Ninth Circuits, and U.S. District Court for the Eastern, Southern, Western Districts of New York.
