At Gibbons, Ms. Amalfe chairs the firm’s very active Employment & Labor Law Group, which includes lawyers across four of eight Gibbons offices. In her legal practice, she handles some of the most high-profile litigations and investigations in New Jersey, while also providing advice and counsel to help clients avoid outcomes like these. Her clients include some of the world’s best-known companies representing industries of notable regional significance. She additionally represents several colleges and universities in the state in some of the most noteworthy investigations and litigations in higher education.
“Christine is a great partner, a wonderful colleague, and a terrific friend. We all trust Christine with our most important clients’ most important matters, and the entire Gibbons firm is honored and humbled to share this moment with her,” said Peter J. Torcicollo, Managing Director of Gibbons P.C.
Ms. Amalfe is Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and the American Bar Foundation. In addition to her ECBA honors, which also include its 2011 Civil Trial Attorney Award, she earned both the New Jersey Law Journal’s inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award and the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey’s Trial Bar Award in 2015. She is listed among the region’s leading employment lawyers by Chambers USA Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, Woodward/White Best Lawyers®, which named her the Newark, NJ “Lawyer of the Year” for labor and employment litigation in 2020, and Thomson Reuters New Jersey Super Lawyers, which lists her among the Top 10 attorneys and Top 50 female attorneys in the state. In addition to her years of service to ECBA, Ms. Amalfe has been a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) for over 30 years, serving in various capacities during that time. She is currently NJSBA Treasurer, which puts her on track to serve as NJSBA President in 2025, and previously served as NJSBA Secretary for the 2020-2021 term.

Now entering its 25th year, GWI is a critical component of the firm’s efforts to create a more diverse attorney workforce and leadership team at Gibbons and to promote women in the workplace more broadly. In great part thanks to Ms. Amalfe’s development of GWI, Gibbons has received numerous accolades recognizing excellence in women’s workplace advancement, including the 2009 Catalyst Award, recognition as a “Best Workplace for Women” by the Great Place to Work organization, and induction into Working Mother magazine’s “Best Law Firms for Women” Hall of Fame.
