Speaker, The 15th Annual E-Discovery Conference, "Maintaining Structure: New Ways of Handling Structured Data in Discovery"
Events
November 16, 2023
Found in a variety of different repositories that are generally and broadly characterized as “databases,” structured data presents unique preservation, collection, and production difficulties. Indeed, requests for discovery of structured data require far more than just a broadly-worded Rule 34 request to produce “documents,” which might ordinarily suffice for obtaining relevant communications, Microsoft Office materials, PDF files, or other unstructured information. This panel will take a deep dive into structured data discovery, and explore such issues as what structured data is, how ESI is obtained from structured data repositories, reasonably usable production formats for this data, and recommended practices—particularly the use of experts—for handling structured data discovery.
