Speaker, New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education's Annual Summer Inclusion Conference 2019, "Inclusion – What Is the Law?" Berkeley Heights, NJ
Events
June 26, 2019 | 1:15 PM - June 26, 2019 | 2:30 PM EST
Inclusion is a very hot topic in many New Jersey communities. Although students are required to be educated in the least restrictive environment with children who are not disabled to the maximum extend appropriate, many of those participating in Child Study Team meetings and developing IEPs do not know how to properly apply the law surrounding least restrictive environment. This gap in understanding often leads to disagreements and disputes between parents and school districts.
During this session, panelists will identify the law supporting inclusion and provide insight to creating a well-developed IEP that appropriately supports a student in an inclusive environment. We will also engage in a practical discussion about the law and strategies to support an inclusion model.
