A decade after New Jersey authorized cannabis medical use, voters approved cannabis for personal use and the Legislature enacted the “Cannabis Regulatory Enforcement and Marketplace Modernization Act.” The Act creates the regulatory mechanisms for the distribution and sale of cannabis for personal use by those over 21 years of age. Implementation of the Act by the Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC) has not been without its challenges, coming from both inside and outside the cannabis industry.
This program gives an overview of:
- Important provisions of the Act;
- Implementation of adult-use cannabis and difficulties with legalization;
- Areas of law impacted by cannabis legalization; and
- Prospects for federal regulatory changes.
