Mr. McPherson concentrates his practice in the areas of regulatory affairs, land use, redevelopment, affordable housing, environmental contamination, and related litigation. Utilizing his previous experience as both a former member of and then counsel to the Township of West Orange Planning Board, he provides unique guidance on applications to local government entities in connection with site plan approvals, subdivisions, variances, and rezoning applications. He regularly represents developers of industrial, commercial, and residential projects throughout the state of New Jersey as part of the land use and redevelopment process.
He also advises clients in transactional matters, including acquisitions and dispositions, financing, joint ventures, and leasing. In addition, he has experience litigating a wide range of employment, premises liability, and insurance coverage disputes in both state and federal courts.
Mr. McPherson previously served as Chief of Staff & Legislative Counsel to New Jersey State Assemblyman Raj Mukherji (LD-33). In those capacities, he analyzed the legal sufficiency of proposed legislation, oversaw day-to-day operations of the legislative district office in Jersey City, and served as the Assemblyman’s chief advisor and communications director.
