Ms. Inderwies holds the highest non-attorney position in the firm, giving her primary responsibility for both facilities operation and personnel management for more than 400 employees in eight offices and six states. By the time she was named Executive Director, she had worked for Gibbons for more than 25 years, beginning as a paralegal and rising through the ranks. In her various leadership roles, she has guided the firm through two decades of tremendous growth – from a 90-attorney practice in Newark to a regional powerhouse with 200 attorneys in eight offices. Ms. Inderwies oversees the daily operations of the firm, including personnel, finance, benefits, technology, and compensation. She is also responsible for drafting policy for all of these key areas and has influenced policy to ensure the firm is able to respond to the changing external forces that any dynamic organization regularly faces.
Ms. Inderwies oversees the firm’s initiatives, for example: to formulate smart growth strategies and evaluate target markets; to identify, negotiate, and custom design office space, and to serve as main firm liaison with building management; to recruit, motivate, and retain a diverse and highly talented pool of legal and administrative personnel; to equip all of the firm’s professionals with the most leading-edge tools and current training in the areas of information technology, research and knowledge management, and financial administration; and generally to secure the most productive workforce and outstanding work product by ensuring the firm’s seamless operation, every day.
Areas of Focus
Community Outreach
Ms. Inderwies oversees “Gibbons Cares,” the firm’s charitable outreach platform, which includes annual donations of more than $1 million and extensive volunteer service, all in support of the communities in which the firm has offices. She encourages employee feedback and the teamwork necessary to achieve outstanding results, to the extent that the New Jersey Business & Industry Association honored her firm with its 2010 Award for Excellence in Public Service. Among the many projects undertaken through Gibbons Cares are holiday book drives and back-to-school backpack and school supplies drives for local schoolchildren. Ms. Inderwies also created and oversees the firm’s monthly “Jeans Days,” where employees pay $5 for the “privilege” of wearing jeans to raise funds for charities suggested by the firm’s employees themselves. In addition, she supervises the internship programs the firm hosts for students, including a week-long program for students from the New Jersey Law and Education Empowerment Project; the United States Hispanic Advocacy Association Fellowship; and the firm’s corporate intern program with Cristo Rey Newark High School.
